Reviewstaion always love to take Interviews of Debut Authors. This time I present before you Sagar Kataria. Author Of “Love Happens… come what May”
Q1 Tell us something about yourself?
I am a fun loving person, humorous and straightforward by nature. The only motto that I understand about life is ‘No heart is impure’, and that’s what inspires me to believe in humanity. I like to meet new people, make friends and this habit has made me more firm in my inspiration.
I am a keen listener more than a reader. It makes me introspect my own life and its various moods and swings. After completing my Electronics degree, I got settled in Amritsar. I cleared the IIM written exam, but the interview was unsuccessful.
I hope this interview doesn’t…
Q2. When did you start writing?
On a lighter vein, I began writing the day I held a pen…
Perhaps, it will be a little difficult to reminisce the day when it all began. But writing kept me busy most of my younger days. When my friends were fond of roaming and watching movies, I spent my time with my colored pencils and diaries. It has been a beautiful journey all through playing with words, searching for meanings in the dictionary. And when you remember a particular word that suits the instance that you are in, it gives happiness and a feeling of pride.
For me, writing is like breathing. I feel complete while inhaling and exhaling words. Of course, it becomes a passion then.
Q3. Tell us Something about your book “Love Happens come what may..” Why did you choose this Title”
I believe that each heart has a story…I, you and all of us here. It is just that I got an opportunity to compile it in the form of this book. Love stories are perhaps monotonous for most of the readers, but for any writer it is neither. Can we live in this world without love? All of us love our family, siblings, friends… last but not the least who doesn’t love one own self.
And that’s what made me register the title “Love happens… come what may” of my book. I always feel that you never fall in love… in love, you simply rise and rise. If you ask me precisely, I want every reader of this novel to rise in life.
Q 4. I have read this book. It is a pure love story. Do you believe in Love? And Is this a real love story?
Oh! Thanks for giving this a read. Well Himani, can love be impure… if it is love, it has to be pure. Otherwise, love relinquishes its dignity and meaning. Of course, all humans must believe in love. It will be an insult to the creator of the universe, if we don’t.
Yes, this is a true story of my best friends Joyvir and his true love Sunaina. There may be some fictitious incidents which have been mentioned, but all these are unfulfilled dreams of my friend Joyvir. It is no harm to name these dreams as under the category of fiction. It is fiction, which someday turns into reality, when it becomes such… love happens.
Q5. How is it working with Mahaveer Publisher?
Well, when you work with any new organization, there are some inherent issues that stall the mind. But I must tell you, Mahaveer Publishers are very professional in their approach and nurture their authors with respect and treat them as their own family. I might have been a little desperate over a few issues with them, but then the end result has been wonderful.
It made me realize that we must trust the people we are working with, without which no work would give you happiness. While you do lose faith over minor issues, but that is the moment to maintain equilibrium. And with the support of the entire team at Mahaveer, I have emerged as a winner.
Q6. How Important is the characterization of the book? Who is your favorite character.?
I really wished to share with you all the real characters in this novel, but to respect the privacy I didn’t. Then one day I thought with a writer’s mind and together with my well wishers and friends gave birth to Joyvir and Sunaina and a few people around them. I hope all my readers like them.
My favorite is surely Sunaina…
Q7. Love stories are loved by every reader. Do you love to write chicklits or Intense Romance?
I want to write with a noble thought and a pen which will never be enchained. I believe that whatever words I scribble, it should be worthy and natural. Words have the prowess to narrate any emotion and take along its readers to a place anywhere in this cosmos. A complete writer is one who has the capability to do that. This is just a beginning for me, I have a long way to go, so let’s see where this tide takes me. I want to be give my each emotion equal chance. I am sure it will be a wonderful journey with all of you.
Q8. What marketing strategies you are doing to promote your book?
Asking an author about marketing is like asking him to swim in the oceans with hands tied. I wonder as to where this literary world is moving. An author has to market its venture as like any telecommunication company sells its mobiles. But the fact is that an author has to learn the jugglery of this world as well. In all this, creativity takes a backstage. I never knew that I will have to promote my book as such. But each day has been a learning experience and with the support of my dear friends and family, I have reached this far. I am sure the road ahead is full of challenges, but with the support of kind hearted friends like you all, I am ready to traverse any path.
Q9. Would you like to try other genres also or just stick to Love stories only? Will there be any sequel to your book?
Of course, I would like to try different genres. Poetry is one thing which impresses me. I am in love with Urdu poetry and can read anything which is emotional and thrilling. I try my hand in writing romantic English poetry these few days.
Of course, the sequel is very much on the cards as my friend Joyvir is after me to let this story be complete. He has narrated a few chapters to me, so may be very soon will ask him to say more.
Q10. Who is your source of Inspiration?
My source of inspiration has been my gracious wife, as without her support I would not have been able to go this far. I did ignore her shopping lists and holidaying for last 2 years. I hope she reads this interview as I ask for a little more time from her. I promise a surprise for both of us very soon.
Q11. Besides writing. What are your hobbies?
Instrumental music and listening to ghazals rejuvenates and brings serenity to my mind. Photography too impresses me. Thanks to the mesmerizing nature which pulls me towards it to click the myriad facads at my will, and the best thing is that I do not have to ask it to smile and make a pose as every time I hold a camera, nature with their best companions fauna and flora is ready to be captured.
Other than this, playing badminton in the morning is my daily regime. I have been playing since last 25 years.
Q12. Do you read books? Who is your favorite Author?
If you ask me seriously, I do not read much. But whenever I do, I try to finish that book in one sitting. For me, reading Khushwant Singh and Jhumpa Lahiri gives me happiness.
Q13. What Message you would like to say to our readers?
Spread warmth and affection with anyone you come across in life. Be humble and share your knowledge with all. The more you share, more you learn. Do plan your future, but never forgot to enjoy today. Respect is sublime in life but to earn this, we have to give respect. I have come across many friends in life, lost a few of them as well for petty reasons. I pray and hope you all nurture friendships, respect elders and families. At the end, I would say “Love happens… come what may”
