Q1. Tell us something about Yourself?
First of all I want to thank “Himani” for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to interact with everybody by virtue of “Reviewstation”.
Well to begin with, I was born and raised on the roads of Navi Mumbai. I am straight forward. I am still in the experimental phase of finding myself. After completing my graduation in Business Systems (BIS) from Australia, I never found a job that would satisfy me. I am still enterprising that success which you can associate with daily living. Currently I am working for a private firm in Mumbai as EHS personnel. About my hobbies, traveling will always be on the top of it (haven’t discovered anything worth yet, still experimenting) apart from it I love to watch movies. Especially, I adore movies with lots of twists, thrill and horror sequences. Like most of the Indian boys, I love cricket too. I don’t read that much, but the element that suits my genre is thrill and horror.
Q2. When did you start writing?
I started writing at a very tender age. I was only in my 3rd grade when I took my pencil and started scribbling in my notebook. I also contributed in annual journals when I was in school and during my graduation days. But I was more determined about my writing soon after I attained my graduation. It was then when I discovered my writing skills. My first novel was “It's Complicated”, it was published by “Notion Press” in 2013. It was Romantic Thriller.
Q3. “Ensnared” Is your Second Novel and that to Horror Thriller? How did you get the idea to write a horror thriller?
Horror and Thriller these are the genres that always fascinated me. I am fond of watching Horror-Thriller movies. My first novel was a romantic thriller. While writing “Its Complicated”, I never thought of making it a complete horror. I just tried to invade a genre that was very new to me at that time. I enjoyed it a lot. But, talking about Ensnared, I was sure about it that I want to make it a complete horror.
I took this decision anonymously. Since I already tried Romantic thriller, I then wanted to move on a much deeper subject. I found horror more attractive. That is why I chose Ensnared to be a Horror Thriller.
Q4. I have read your book “Ensnared” It is very scary and well Imaginative. From where did you get the idea. What research have you done for this novel?
I will stick to the basics, Indian basic Horror stories are mostly based on brutal killings, or a ghost involved in it. It has thrills, but the level of thrill is somewhat different to me.
I thought of experimenting in two different genres into one. Horror and Thriller. It was my willingness to do something that is unique, at least for me.
To Come on the research part; I had done enough research on elements like Black magic, White Magic, Neo Tantra, Aghori Vidya, and Tarot card reading. You will find all these elements described in Ensnared.
Q5. Tell us something about your book “Ensnared”
My protagonist in Ensnared is “Neil”. It’s a story about Neil and Divya. Neil and Divya are perfect couple. Everything in their happy married life is turned upside down when Neil finds Divya behaving mysteriously. After sometime Neil’s behavior also gets affected. They are drawn towards an unnatural power that has ensnared them. Along with them their family and friends experience something which is unspeakable. Will they survive these hauntings? What is the secret behind their tragic fates? What will happen if they found themselves in a place from where they can’t escape? Every question has answers here. But can you handle the answers. If you can, then find it yourself. ☺
Q6. You have worked with Two different Publishers. Tell us your experience with them?
Hmm, Working with Notion press was a good experience. Naveen Valsakumar (Notion Press) identified a struggling writer in me and gave me a chance. I am very thankful to him.
Working with Authors’ Ink Publication was altogether a different experience. It was a grand stage. Aniket Kapoor was very supportive. Jonali, my editor was also very condoned. We three worked as a team. Ensnared is not an effort of “Prashant Wase” alone. It is a collaborative effort of Aniket Kapoor, Jonali Karmakar & Prashant Wase. Kudos to Aniket and Jonali for their humongous support and belief in me.
Q7. What is your source of Information?
I gathered information from Documentaries, movies, several websites and some blogs of experienced people.
Q8. You have written Two different genres. One was “romantic Thriller” and another was Horror thriller”.. Did you face any difficulty in switching the genere and How was it?
Both the experiences cannot be compared. I loved both of them. It was fun indeed to switch from Romantic-Thriller to Horror-Thriller.
Analogously, Ensnared is a project that is thoroughly researched. “It's Complicated”, on the other hand came out of fun. It was very intense feeling while portraying “Its Complicated”. Ensnared was a pre-planned project. Every aspect of it was doubly checked and researched.
Q9. What source of marketing you are doing to promote your book?
I knew this will be coming, a lot of social media is involved, Facebook, twitter, google+, contacting bloggers, blogs, several fan pages and still searching for any new media for promotion. If you have anything in your mind, please tell me.
Q10. Who are your favorite Authors?
Well, I don’t read that much. It's not necessary for every aspiring writer to be a good reader. But Yes, I read few books and some of my favorites authors are : Jhumpa Lahiri(Specially for “Namesake”), Paulo Coelho, Jeffery Archer, Chetan Bhagat, Khaled Hosseini.
Q11. Do you love to read books? What type of books do you read?
On a blunt note, when it comes to reading books, I don’t have that much experience because I don’t read a lot. But yes, my interest is in fiction books specially thriller and horror. Apart from these two genres other genres that I adore are Humor and Romance.
Q12. Apart from writing and your Job what are your past-time?
I love to watch movies, whenever I’m free; I try to watch a movie or two. Apart from movies, if my finances support me well I love to travel and explore new places.
Q13. Are you planning to write Another book. Do you have any other genre in your mind?
As of now, No, I am not thinking to write another book, but yeah in the near future I will definitely go for it. I can’t tell you what would be my next genre, because I am not sure when I would be starting again. So whenever a good plot with interesting genre comes into my mind, I won’t waste anytime in penning that down.
Q14. What would you like to say to our readers and budding writers..?
For readers, if you are a fiction lover and love to read Horror-Thriller than “ENSNARED” is a right choice for you. Go and grab a copy now.
For writers:
Always believe in yourself, Do not ever loose hope, Remember: Where there is a will, there is a way.
