About the book: Circa - 1936! While most of the India grapples under the rule of the foreign yoke, the small but hustling bustling town of Bhairav Garh, famous for its sprawling Indravan gardens, the swift flowing Mahananda and the gigantic golden statue of Lord Bhairava, which has stood for centuries and had been the center of attraction for invaders like Ghori, Ghazni, Timur and Abdali, suddenly goes through a transitional phase as the mighty Britishers set up their cantonment in the town.
With events that unease, shock and violate the sentiments and emotions of the townsfolk, one man - Keshav, the young and dynamic son of the local zamindar, cautiously gathers a group of men from different walks of life and with different motives and carefully and strategically plans the unthinkable, a revolution-a revolution to over throw the Britishers not just by force or might, but also through with and intellect!
What happens when a group of men take on the might of the powerful British empire and embark on a journey full of action, adventure, planning, plotting, bloodshed, conspiracy and patriotism, to encounter four mysterious strangers, while in search of a long forgotten book written in the times of Emperor Ashoka, which holds the answer to several secrets, who turn and alter the course of the future events, even as the English are besieged with numerous problems ranging from the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, to Gandhis ways and means of achieving independence.
Read on The Bhairava Putras to know more about the classic and legendary tale of a band of men who defied the norms to fight guns, bullets, injustice, deception and intrigue at every corner of their adventurous and thrilling escapades, to uproot and nbsp, the centre hold of dominance and authority, through mountainous terrains, dense and thick jungles, secret hide outs and rivers in spate, which unfortunately got lost, somewhere in the annals of history!
Review: First of all I am really grateful to Suhail Mathur for recommending his book “The Bhairav Putras” and introducing me to the world of Historical Fiction. I am not fond of historical fiction, but the book really changed my perception. When a book is written with a wonderful narration and simple language with a nice concept any genre is interesting. The title itself is interesting and it’s real significance readers will come to know when they read the book. The cover is really beautifully designed by the “Book bakers” which will surely attract you to read the book. The blurb very nicely explained the summary of the book. All the characters play a very important role in the book and each of them make an impact on the minds of readers. My personal favorite is Keshav, who bravely fought for India’s Independence. While reading this book, I got a good knowledge of History. Some chapters were really very interesting and I could not take my eyes off until I finish that part. Specially about “Lord Bhairav and his book and how the revolutionary found the book. The climax was so interesting that I completed the book at one stretch. As a Debut author Suhail had done a good job of writing such an interesting book that you could feel that all the things in the book are happening in front of your eyes. The suspense in the book clearly makes an impact on the readers. It is rightly written. This book is the perfect mixture of History, patriotism, suspense and mythology. All the adventures, fights in the book really make you stand from your chair. They are so aptly narrated in the book. I would suggest every avid reader to read this book. I am confident that you will love the book as it is written with full dedication and correct research. The one liners in the book really make you smile. The poem in the end was superb and love story in the book is written with utmost balance. That was the lighter part of the book. I really felt good to know about “Lord Bhairav”. Good job Suhail. Keep writing and entertain the reader.
