Endorsement Blurbs: "A fascinating historical fiction, this novel races along in a fast-paced thrilling narrative. The story is set in past but confront issues of our times. It’s dealt so confidently that I’m surprised this is a first novel."– Mayank Austen Soofi, Author & Historian

"I often wonder if my six year old son Raj would truly understand what many have sacrificed to see a free India today? I always wonder if many among us spare a thought. The price of our freedom?
It is perhaps books like this that bring alive the moments that defined our destiny today, and authors who revisit and recapture that spirit that makes us pause and go back to a time where freedom was still captivity.
I am inspired when I browsed through the pages ... The author's style is fresh and re creates images convincingly, and reminds me how valuable our time as a Democratic India is!"
–Ajit Agarkar, Indian Cricketing All Rounder & Cricket Expert
“The Bhairava Putras” is a story of uprising of a small town against its high and mighty colonial masters. It is not only a story of revolt against cultural imperialism but is also a fight for one’s freedom. The message and the story are both relevant for today’s time when cultural imperialism is shaking the traditions and customs of our society. On the whole it is an interesting effort. I offer all my best wishes to the author.”
- Amarendra Sharan, Ex Additional Solicitor General of India
“Brilliant...gripping suspense...racy.... There is a crisp freshness about the writing which makes it thoroughly enjoyable. Not only is the story line absorbing but the style is mature as well, which makes you want to read more. A magnificent read and a sure shot bestseller.”
- Neelima Dalmia Adhar, Author & Poetess
"I found this first novel by a promising young author an interesting mix of fiction, fact, history and myth. The tale of conflict between the imperious British rulers and their Indian subjects is etched in shades of grey, rather than black and white. The story develops gradually and subtly beyond the usual tale of the colonial encounter where rapacious officer meets downtrodden peasant to bring in a range of characters who people the setting. Set in the last decades of colonial rule, it brings to light a fascinating period of modern history in an extremely readable form. I found it most encouraging that a young student of law has delved into the history of our independence movement and presented it in a way that would reach across to his generation."
- Sucheta Mahajan, Author & Prof. of History at JNU
"What a wonderful book! A storyline brilliantly interweaving history, action and wit with thrill, deception and mythology. Feel extremely proud that a young law student has handled such a theme with deftness and requisite thrill to make it all the more interesting for the readers. Happy that Suhail has also paid homage to the first Registrar of the National Law University, Delhi; Late Prof. (Dr.) Ghanshyam Singh by naming the lead character's father, Ghanshyam. A fascinating and gripping tale for all ages...don't miss it"
- Prof.(Dr.)Ranbir Singh, Member Sri Krishna Committee & Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi
“A brilliant, engrossing piece from a debutant writer who reaches out to the readers through his pictorial writing style and vivid imagination. The blend of historical facts and fiction makes the narrative fast and thrilling. The smooth anecdotes and characters make a subtle resemblance to the present times...making the reader pause and think. It’s not always the victory of the mighty but wit and strategic astuteness has a greater role to play...”
- Shyam Grover, Group Editor & CEO, Lex Witness - India's 1st Magazine on Legal & Corporate Affairs
“Suhail Mathur has taken an important and unusual step in undertaking a historical novel when most young legal trainees would be focused exclusively on learning the ropes for the legal profession - his dedication in completing a work of historical fiction based on India's freedom struggle at such a young age is truly impressive. His topic of choice also shows courage and the will to tread a different path and make the effort that goes with it: I hope Suhail finds the encouragement needed from his first endeavour to continue to explore creative aspects of life, even as he builds his legal career.”
- Ajay Bahl, Partner, AZB & Partners
