Name: The Thugs & A Courtesan…… Publication: Srishti Publications & Distributors….
Verdict: ☆☆ ½ An Interesting subject with good story line. A very new idea about the relationship between thugs and caravan of traders and courtesan. Those who love to read Historical fiction must read this book.

Summary of the Book
The Thugs and a Courtesan is a story of romance, devotion, crime and deception. Firangia is on a journey that covers many places and jungles, but in the time that he lives in, there is always someone who is watching you. He lives in an India that did not yet have any railways. Merchants would travel only in caravans, noblemen with escorts, and there is no road that is considered secure. During his travel home after a trade expedition, Firangia comes across the lovely Chanda Bai who happens to be travelling in the company of a party of guards. When she sees him, she asks if he would accompany her for protection as, despite being a warrior, it is unsafe for her to be travelling the roads. However, Firangia is not sure if he should agree. This is a story about ambitions against trivial schemes, love, deceit and evil.
Review: First look of the cover and the title compliments the era in which the book is written. It attracts you to read the book. The blurb of the book is quite interesting which talks about thugs and courtesan which as a reader I have not came across them and this urged me to read the book. But as a reader after reading this book I was a bit disappointed. The writing style was not in a easy language. It was a bit restrained. It interrupts the flow of book when you are stuck on a particular line or word. The narration of the book was also a bit slow. Sometimes you felt like leaving the book in the middle as it gets boring with time. There were so many characters which were not properly defined that make the readers a bit confused.
The Plot of the book is quite interesting and if it had been written in a good style it would have grab the reader’s attention. I want Author should keep this in mind for the next book. All the best…..
