Q1. Tell us something about yourself?
Bernard D’sa, born and bred in Mumbai, but settled down in Bangalore. I like to motivate people and make them smile.
Q2. When did you start writing? Tell us About your published work?
I have been associated with writing for a long time, since school days but had never been part of any school magazine nor any cultural activities, but writing gave me a freedom to express the hidden desires and portrays a stronger character. I wanted to debut as an author with my novel, but things didn’t work as per my plan and I debuted as a poet with my book Symphonies of Love which had 53 handpicked poems and then it made to the bestseller list at #79
Q3. How does it feel to be a Published Writer?
It feels great to be a published writer. I had a deep desire that to have a book that was written by me and to have my name printed in bold letters.
Q4. You are a multi-talented Person. How did you manage your work?
Ha-ha, this seems to be a very interesting question. I have 24hrs in a given day so I try my best to make use of every minute, sometimes it does become difficult as you have your 9-6 job and you get tired when you are back home, but with right principles, dreams and determination anyone can manage it, after its all the matter of priority.
Q5. How did you start your blog? Tell us your experience in writing blog?
I used to write in diaries and notebooks and then had a huge pile of selected books and my diaries and then the concept of blogging was introduced to me by one of my seniors wherein I could post an article or a story and get the readers all around the globe to read it
Q6. What is your source of Inspiration?
I believe and trust in God and I feel the main source of inspiration comes from the Almighty and the beautiful things that he has created in and around us
Q7. Tell us something about your NGO Activities and your Publishing house “Rain Drops company”?
I have been an active member of social work and been supporting them towards their education, I have been conducting blood donation and dental camps for these children. Well Rain Drops Company was just a dream, it’s not just a publishing house, it’s that company that an armature started. It’s about believing in yourself. It’s about never giving up on your dreams in-spite the odds the society carries around itself. It’s the company built on hope and determination to stand strong. A year ago all pointed out the flaws of starting a company and hundreds of reasons why not to start a company and despite of such dedicated odds of the society, today Rain Drops Company stands tall
Q8. Tell us your experience while writing in magazines?
Writing for the magazines is a good experience as you can share a space with many known authors, it gives you the confidence that your writings will be accepted, but when you enter the publishing industry its way different.
Q9. How was your experience working with different publishers?
Awesome experience, as you get to know and learn a lot of the publishers who have spent so much time in this industry, the way they work and give you the right space to grow.
Q10. Do you read poetry by other poets? Who is your favorite poet?
Yes, I do. I read a lot of books, be it poetry and novels and my favorite poets are John Keats, Vikram Seth, Robert Frost
Q11. Apart from writing what are your hobbies?
Apart from the writings I play guitar and listen to music, watch movies, meet people and visit bookstores, I have a collection of stamps and pens.
Q12. What marketing strategies you think are important for promoting a book?
It’s your book, it’s like your baby and I feel the right way to promote your book is to make it available to the people, we have an online/offline stores, and social media play a vital role. We can have book launch and make the books available at the book fairs and send a copy to few schools depending on the genre.
