Reviewstation, recently took an interview of Dr Ajay who written his Debut book “From Where I see”. It is one of the debatable book which can change the perspective of the society. Let us know more about him…
Q1. Tell us something About yourself?
By profession I am an anesthetist, Intensivist and pain specialist working as senior consultant and head of department at the W – hospital by Pratiksha, Gurgaon, the largest women's hospital in India. I am also teaching at Institute of advanced medical studies, a premier MD/MS entrance coaching institute where three times I have been awarded as best teaching faculty. As a person I am critical and analytical thinking.
Q2. When did you start writing?
For literature, this is my first book which I started 3 years back, but the textbook of anesthesia I wrote in 2003 and now it is one of the most saleable textbooks for undergraduates in India, South East Asia, Middle East, China and Africa.
Q3. What motivated you to write such a controversial book?
Since my childhood I had been an analytical thinker. I observed that there are always two sides of the curtain; our fears, prejudices, fixed notions and attitude of accepting what’s served as platter does not let us peep on that side often letting the winners to manipulate the historical facts. Injustice, human exploitation, dishonesty and lawlessness had never been tolerable to me. Nothing has grieved me more than hatred towards each other. Why at every level, whether it’s intrapersonal, interpersonal, inter-social, inter-religious or inter-country we are conflicted? I started to think; finding the cause for these conflicts became my passion. I started to dream of a society free of these conflicts, an honest utopian society.
Himani jee, there are 2 types of people in this world. First, who are sensitive to their own needs and own desires; their life revolves around ‘me’ only. Second, who are sensitive to the needs of others; their concern is ‘we’, we as a society, as a country, as a world and most importantly as humans. Unfortunately! I belong to the second category. This sensitivity, desire to show the other side of the curtain and desire to change the world to establish a utopian society were the motivating factors for me to take such a bold decision. There is no weapon stronger than a pen in brining revolution, so I decided to pen down.
Q4. Tell us something about your book?
I just won’t call it as a book alone, it’s a revolution. It’s a journey towards an ideal world where we all dream to live in. It is my sincsre effort to find out the root causes and probable remedies of intrapersonal, interpersonal, inter-social, inter-religious or inter-country conflicts. It is an exploration of hundreds of most controversial yet peritent questions. And this all I have tried to achieve through a story background of murder mystery. Although it was very difficult task but after seeing the reviews of the majoirity of readers, I feel that I have succeded.
Q5. You are a Doctor by Profession. How did you manage your time by writing this book?
There is no doubt that time is a big constraint to me, but “where there is a will, there is a way”. In fact, my desire to establish a utopian society coerces me to find time for my passion. Moreover, I don’t watch saas bahu serials!!!
Q6. What were in your mind while writing this book?
The only thing which was there in mind and still it's there is that somebody has to take the plunge.
Q7. How do you feel to be a published Author?
It definitely gives a proud feeling. At least now I have a platform to spread my message.
Q8. How do you envision your book. Will it create an impact on the readers. Will it change the perspective of the society?
Of course Himani jee, it will. Rather, I would say that it has already been started. The evidence is the reviews from the readers. I am so glad to see that few readers have so openly accepted that they were stubborn and now there persuaded toward many things have changed.
Q9. How is Lifi Publication?
Largely they have been supportive. They made my book available in most of the countries. I was surpised to see that it's available at Amazon. UK and Amazon. US. I feel that they also have positive expectations from my book.
Q10. Tell us some of your interesting memories associated with the book?
Honestly speaking Himani jee, for a debutante author the majority of memories are painful!! You have to really stuggle hard to get your book published.
Q11. What marketing strategies you are doing in promoting the book?
I have started Face book , twitter and goodreads campaign. Recently I organized a giveaway campaign at goodreads. I organized my book launch at constitution club Delhi and press conference in Gurgaon. Majority of the newspapers gave an excellent coverage of the events. The article in Hindu and millennium post are really mindblowing.
Q12. Besides writing and your profession what you like to do during free time?
Reading Literature, watching plays and movies, travelling and long distance running are my hobbies.
Q13. Woman Empowerment, Inter religious marriage, Live in relation all these issues were discussed in your book. Do you thing People’s perspective towards these issues will be changed in the coming year?
Women Empowerment without any second thought has seen an immense rise in the last millennium. We had seen women as best priministers, chief ministers, CEO of multinationals. In international sports women had bought more medals than men.
Unfortunately, inter religious marriages are still not very well accepted in our society and we can’t alone blame people for it. In my book I have tried my best to explain the cause of our restricted attitude toward accepting the people of other religion.
People perspective about other things like live in relation, same sex marriages, prostitution is changing, but yes very slowly and with lots of resistance.
Q14. Tell us your future project?
Right now I am writing a medical book. After finishing this work I will focus on literature book, but this time a much lighter one!!!
Q15. What is your point of view on Husband and wife’s relation as a whole as this is also discussed in your book?
In single line I would like to say is that best relation between a husband and wife is “best friends with equal distribution of everything… and everything I mean everything”
Q16. What message would you like to say to readers of your book?
When you are writing a book, you think that you are doing the most difficult job, but after finishing the book you realize that it was the easiest job- the real struggle begins from here. Finding a publisher in a current day scenario where hundreds of thousand budding authors are in queue is the most frustrating job. I am sorry to say, but the hard fact of the publishing industry is that the majority of the publishing houses are not interested in content or value your book is going to add to the society, only the marketability works. Moreover a new author is a vulnerable scapegoat for financial exploitation at multiple levels.
So, I would just like to say the aspiring authors that writing, getting it published and selling the book is a very challenging, time consuming, tedious and at times a frustrating job. But… yes if your content is good, has something to give to this world… for sure it will find its way; people will accept it… albeit very slowly.
