Publisher: Author’s Ink Publication…
Verdict: ☆☆☆ ½ Book is apt for readers who love to read heavy concept. The Author had indicated the dark realities in the life of a girl child. A heart-touching, dark and threatening which as a reader will take you in a thinking mode. A must read book.
About The Author: Arkaprava De’s book is aimed for a particular reader base. It chiefly portrays issues like child abduction, human trafficking, prostitution, the culture in regard to bar-dancing and the disease AIDS. Since all these topics are absolutely and sincerely the need of the hour in concern for our Indian society, people must come forward and read the book which will in a way elucidate them about all these social evils at large.
About The book: She was born in Kolkata. She was an unwelcome guest, a product of lust. She had to pay the price. She was abducted and trafficked to Hyderabad. She spent nine years begging on the roadside. Destiny brought her back to Kolkata where she was sold off to a procuress in Sonargachi. She married Raghu and started leading a healthy life. However, she attempted a suicide. She was Ketaki. Why was Ketaki abducted and trafficked? Where was her father and mother? Was Ketaki ever able to meet her real parents? Why did she attempt the suicide? Was it all destiny that brought her back to Kolkata or did The Almighty have something else in His holy mind? After all, Joys and Woes are always woven fine!!
Review: These days Author chose to write women oriented books and majority of readers are women and they get a huge response. As far as this book is concerned, the Author had described the callous realities in the life of a woman. The cover of the book is apt with the concept. A dark silhouette of a young woman indicates her dark realities of life while the blurb is crisp and easily describe the story. The narration is descriptive and make you hooked to the book till the end. In this small book of 149 pages the Author had clearly described the life of Kolkatta which is the land of the Goddess and people pray with utmost sincerity. On the other hand, there are people who take advantage of weaker section by molesting the young girls. As a reader, this book will make you speechless and also make you cry after reading about the demons in the form of human beings who take advantage of young girls and their helpless situations. The beggars, Prostitutes are not born by choice but demons in the form of flesh eating man make them for money. I was seriously heartbroken after reading this reality of life. The end was a bit depressing, but matched with the story so far. It is a heavy book which can be read during free time or when you are in a good mood. But as a woman one should definitely grab this book.
Drawback: There are a few silly mistakes which need to be rectified. The joy part was missing only was of a woman were there. I felt the young girl Ketki should spend some time with her Biological women which was missing.
Rest It was a nice book by a debut author Arkaprava De. All the best.
